The themes for my works are observations of the surrounding nature, the finnish coast in the Baltic Sea, forest and garden. The atmosphere is transformed to sketches and develops gradually to an image taking its shape on canvas. Nature is present in all I do, in my both jobs , biologist and artist, also in my way of living in the country.
During the study time I found textile printing techniques as my own language.. I prepared everyday textiles for home and sale.
Gradually I changed my way of working from textile printing techniques to free blend of painting, spreading the colour using both sponges and fingers and maybe also serigraphy on wet or dry cotton fabric . I use water soluble textile colours . The canvas is prepared on a table by letting it get dry between the layers of paint. The completed work is tightened on frames. That is why the picture actually continues over the edges.
Quite new types of wortk has been the result of learning some basics of ceramic works, with the help of Maarit Lassila, artist and gallerist of Gallery Kararaija.
